PERSONALITY: Ulrik’s number one rule is to never take himself too seriously. He never tries too hard and always tries to avoid any kind of confrontation. He’s much smarter than he lets on, he just doesn’t see the point in trying too hard to live up to his full potential rather than being happy. However, when it comes to his friends and the people he loves, he keeps his relations with them very close to his heart and when one of them is at stake, that’s when he’ll step up and those are his true crowning moments. He’s basically a light-hearted, all-around silly guy, and always manages to smile even in the worst situations. He also hates it when people worry over him, and will do anything to avoid troubling anybody.
BIO: Now for his SUPA TRAGIC PAST OH BOY……… To start, Ulrik never met the expectations of his parents or any of his family, really. He was loud, rebellious, never took anything seriously, and his only real talent was singing, an ability they assumed he would lose once he came of age so they never encouraged it. He and Myla were very very close growing up, and she was always the only one who would urge him to pursue his talent.
So, when he turned 15, instead of receiving his mime powers, he up and left. He would have done anything to avoid losing his voice. He lived on the streets for awhile, and then secretly moved in with a supportive great aunt(who you may meet later) for a few months, until he was found.
Ulrik’s father, as you can imagine, was not happy with Ulrik for ditching out on family tradition, so he sent Myla and two twin Mumer cousins named Tik and Tok(who you may also meet later) to find him. Myla was not informed of the instructions that Tik and Tok were given, and she thought it would be a happy reunion where they would simply bring Ulrik back home. This, however, was not the case. Daddy Mumer’s instructions were to find Ulrik, and take away his eyesight in any way they saw fit. His logic was, if he wouldn’t give up his voice, he’d have to give up something else. Basically, they ended up stabbing Ulrik in the eyes. And Myla watched. Horrified that those of her own family would do something like that, she refused to go back with Tik and Tok, and stayed with Ulrik. She got him the medical attention he needed and stayed with him during his recovery. He, of course, smiled through the whole thing, hating that his little sister was going through so much trouble for him. Eventually, they set off together to be a travelling musician power duo.
TALENTS: As previously mentioned, Ulrik is a singer. His singing voice sounds a lot like Beirut. He’s also surprisingly good at chess and tells a mean knock-knock joke.

BUILD: plus-sized, really short
ETHNICITY: French
PERSONALITY: Myla is definitely the sane one. She’s very graceful and yet grounded in everything she does, and she can keep a level head in almost any situation. She has a very motherly nature and is naturally inclined to take care of things and people, and can be very protective of her brother Ulrik, Riktus, and Linieth and she worries over them constantly. She somehow manages to be very soft in personality and yet not dainty in the slightest, she holds herself like she knows what she’s doing and more often than not, she does. Also, from spending so much time around her brother she has developed an… elegantly snarky sense of humor, and can be very childish sometimes(although she is very dignified about it) however said humor is often lost in her inability to speak. She is typically not very good with people because of this as well, and leaves most communications up to her brother. She has her own ways of communicating with the other three and that’s pretty much the end of it, she freezes up with everyone else.
BIO: Myla grew up as a picture perfect, model Mumer. She was smart, serious but not too serious, and picked up many special talents very early on, most of them involving music. The only thing getting in the way of her perfection was her brother. You’ll learn more about him next up, but basically, he was the exact opposite of what his family wanted out of him. Despite this, him and Myla were very very very close growing up, and, when it came time for both of them to get their powers, Ulrik up and left. Myla ended up staying and getting her powers, but after a year of training she was sent by her father with her two cousins to find Ulrik. When they found him, what she wasn’t prepared for was witnessing the event which caused him to go blind. After this, she was so appalled by her family’s actions that she abandoned them in favor of travelling the world with Ulrik as a travelling musician duo.
MUSIC: myla plays many instruments with her mime powers, which hopefully you’ve read about already. She primarily plays the violin and has been for years, but also more recently mastered the accordion and the lyre. Those are only the ones that she can play with her powers, however, if you give her any physical instrument she can probably figure out how to play it.
COMMUNICATION WITH ULRIK: as you may or may not know yet, Myla’s brother, Ulrik, is blind, and Myla is mute. This, of course, makes it very hard for her to communicate things to him, since he can’t see her hand movements or facial expressions. They rely a lot on Riktus and Linieth to translate, but when they’re not around or if the two of them need to converse quietly then they’ll communicate by Myla tapping morse code messages on Ulrik’s shoulder arm. They also, however, communicate a lot via their music. Ulrik sings and Myla responds with her instruments, and they can get a lot of feeling across that way.

Riktus and Linieth’s family, the Sommers, get cool powers as well! Unlike the Mumers, however, the selection of who gets these powers is a genetic trait and is mostly random. The possibility of a Sommer being born with powers is about 50/50.

The gist of their powers is basically this: When a Somer really puts their mind to it(meaning they can’t do it unintentionally) and describes an object out loud, the object will appear before them. For example, if one of them were to describe a purple, round ball, then a purple, round ball will appear. There are many loopholes in this, though, as you can imagine, so the powers take a long time to master.
Most Somers actually go to school to learn how to use their powers. It’s hardly a school, just a gathering of elders and children from the Somer family that meet three days a week, but they call it school. Most Somers that don’t go to school have tutors. Those who try to teach themselves how to use their powers on their own usually grow up to have a really crooked understanding of them.

Myla and Ulrik’s family, the Mumers, for the most part all get special mime powers when they come of age(13 for girls, 15 for boys) and they get these powers in exchange for getting their voices taken away. 

The gist of these powers is this: when they mime something, it actually happens. By this I mean that, for example, if one of them were to mime shooting you, an invisible bullet would actually be fired and you would feel yourself get shot.
The downside to this is that in order to use an object with their powers, they have to completely and 120% memorize the object in its physical, visible form. This is because they cannot feel or see their objects any better than you can. Myla, who uses her powers mostly to play instruments, spends years learning how to play her instruments before she is able to use them with her powers. Most of them can use everyday objects like silverware and such with their powers, but for the most part Mumers choose one weapon and a handful of other things to master.
Also, their powers only work with objects. For example, if one of them were to mime that they are choking, they wouldn’t actually start choking.
